If your knowledge of doctrine does not make you a great man of prayer, you had better examine yourself again. —Martyn Lloyd-Jones
The natural, Biblical result of knowing the doctrine of the sovereignty of God is complete dependence on Him. How do we show dependence on God? By going before the throne of grace through Jesus Christ. What are we saying about ourselves and God when we do not pray? We are essentially saying,
1) I can handle this situation on my own.
2) I can't handle this on my own, but neither can God.
3) I can't handle this on my own; I believe that God can help, but He won't want to do anything.
All of which betray a lack of faith in God's sovereignty and goodness (I've pretty much said all the above myself, by the way!). So when we see God's character in the Word of God, it should not be a dry intellectual exercise; it should drive us to our knees.

Hey, I'm not sure how I ended up on your blog but I'm glad I did! :-) This really encouraged me and is definitely a great reminder of God's sovereignty for me. Thanks!

Hi Amanda! I'm glad you were encouraged. :) It is really neat to see how God uses our effective, fervent prayers and dependence on Him to make us more like Him and even cause things to happen in His sovereign plan!
Thanks for commenting!
