The knitters began to gather under the trees along the bricked sidewalk around ten o'clock on Saturday morning to celebrate Worldwide Knit in Public Day. Yes, I was one of them.
The downtown area was quite busy with customers at the Farmers' Market across the street from where we were knitting, and it seemed that folks were eager to get outside before the forecasted afternoon rain began.
Joe, the owner of On the Lamb, welcomed each of us as we arrived, and he handed out numbers for the door prizes that would be given out during the morning.
Here are some of the knitters sitting and knitting on various projects. And notice the crazy hats on the two ladies on the right. There was a crazy hat contest again this year.
Here's Joe knitting a cap.
And here's another crazy hat. I couldn't stay long enough to see who won, but this one probably had a good chance.
Speaking of prizes, I didn't bring anything home this year, but I did have a good time knitting.
Here's a final picture taken as I was leaving. It was a good KIP Day this year.
Did any of you go out in public this weekend...and knit?

That looks like fun!

I guess Wake Forest doesn't celebrate Knit in Public-not that I would have been there.I didn't see any people downtown knitting.
Seems like you had a fun time.

Wish I could have been there. Maybe next year.
I have been hoping to knit more this summer, but so far that hasn't happened. I have several projects I want to finish or at least make progress on. I didn't knit in public this weekend, but I did knit just a little bit!

I didn't hear of any knit in public days around Atlanta but it is such a big city there may have been some events going on somewhere. My daughter loves to knit and has taught her little sister how to knit too. I get all kinds of knitted items from my two girls. Looks like you had a great day. So what did you knit?
