We do the same thing! My husband reads the scriptures to us after dinner each night and then we go around the room with each person making a contribution. The youngest ones get asked a question by dad and the older ones give their own observations or applications about the reading. My husband finishes up with his own observations and teaching. On Saturday nights, we like to sing hymns and psalms together. We've been learning to sing in harmony with the Serven's psalm singing kit.
Thanks for sharing what you family does!

Hi Deb,

Jeff usually reads Scripture to us in the evenings after the children have had their showers.
Jeff has been using John Bunyan's HOLY WAR as a "spring board" for our evening devotional time. It is loaded with Scripture references. This classic is wonderful, but nothing beats the WORD of GOD. Scipture stands alone!

Mommy of two little blessings

We tried reading the bible together before the kids came along and learned very fast that we study the word of God quite differently. Now with children, they get to hear a bible story every evening. We have story time every night before bed and I have taught them that, "God comes first in story time and in life." So at two and four our children tell me this before we even start to read the bible. Our son is learning the names of the people and our daughter askes questions of things she sees in the pictures. It's our way of studying God's inspired word with the children. I try to read from the NIV (I think that's the translation) daily but don't always do what I aim for. *smile* God is good and is making sure that our children are learning about Him now. *smile* Tonight we read about John baptizing Jesus. In the picture Jesus is not pluging his nose so I told the kids, "When I was baptized, I pluged my nose, like this." They thought that was great fun. I hope you have a great time growing in God as a family. Blessings.-me-(Mommy of two little blessings)
