Well, a lot of excitement around the ol' homestead today...a good reason for posting a bit late this evening! Expected delivery of our new garden shed from Byler's was on schedule for this morning. We had been anticipating its delivery since it was ordered over three weeks ago.
The Byler guys worked a couple of hours getting the concrete blocks in place and the building set. As it turned out, they will have to return again tomorrow with additional blocks as the ground was uneven enough for the shed to need extra support.
So what do three twenty-somethings do on a Monday night when there's an empty shed with great acoustics? Sing, of course!
It wasn't quite like singing in a silo, but it sounded "mighty purty, folks!"
"Come Thou Fount," "Holy, Holy, Holy," and "Amazing Grace" never sounded so good! Wish you could have been standing at the window listening in!

I wish we could have been there to practice our parts for "Come Thou Fount" and "Holy, Holy, Holy".....Don't fill up the shed, and we'll practice there the next time church is at your house! :)
What a precious picture of the 3 of them! I am sure it was "purty!"

What a great idea. I'm sure the 'Shed Singers' had a good time. My singers are getting ready to go do a concert this morning for our church's senior citizens' group. Maybe you'll have to reserve a little spot in that shed so your harmonizers can keep it up. :)

Well, now, you've found a "new" use for theb "garden" shed, what will you do when its full? Why, of course, get a second one and use THAT for your singing space. Come winter, though, those paper thin walls will let a passel o cold in, so best insulate it, then line the inside witih half inch plywood. Maybe a tiny woodstove in one corner..... that way, it will be warm and cozy, and still have those great "wood-lined" accoustics. Next time in there, bring the instruments... I'll bet those walls will fairly sing back with some hearty pickin a goin on..... that shed looks big enough my own county would call it illegal... unless I went and paid them to change their minds (that's called
building permit" around here. Disgusting!!)

This story is so cool. Love the selection of songs, too.
Just goes to show that you can worship the living God anywhere!

So, you need a building permit in Virginia for a SHED that is not on a poured footing? That is amazing. Here I had thought Virginia was one of those laid back and rural states where counties don't even HAVE building permits.. like Missouri,Arkansas, Kansas, Ohio, and I think Texas. Oh, maybe its cause part of the state is so close to DC theypve brought in that government micromanaging mindset. I wonder, though, do the county folks spend time inspecting satellite photographs to make sure no one is buiding things without permits? They do that around here...... who'd a thunk the Space Race would result in government snooping in our backyards? On OUR tax nickel, to boot, No wonder they need to get so much tax money out of us.
