It's Saturday morning, and the day is absolutely beautiful since the fog has lifted off the mountains. Our guests piled into their van after breakfast heading back home to Pennyslvania after an overnight stopover at Mountain Musings.
We first met Nelson and Sarah Phero and their family a couple of years ago when we visited their church in Pennyslvania. Sarah's two sisters, Karen and Abigail, were also traveling along with them, so it was good to see the Einwechter girls again. Karen and Hannah have been penpals since meeting at the History of the World Conference in 2006.
After dinner on Friday evening, we all walked out to the gardens to see what was growing--quite a few things.
The guys talked while the ladies checked out the tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers, green beans, spinach, lettuce, arugula, Swiss chard, beets, peas, carrots, garlic, parsnips, radishes, cilantro, oregano, rosemary, thyme, and basil.
Karen and Abigail told us they grow red, black, and yellow raspberries. Hannah showed them our blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries.
The girls looked at pictures of our little grandson Ethan and also had a chance to look at one of Hannah's scrapbooks while they were here.
Friday evening we heard some (first time ever!) spoon playing! Both Nelson and his son Joshua play spoons and played some tunes for us.
Then Jonathan brought out his banjo and loaned Joshua his guitar to play--a bit of music to end our evening.
(If you would like to hear more of Jonathan's banjo pickin', one of his co-workers at the airport recorded him playing at lunch recently.)
We had a good visit with our friends and enjoyed getting better acquainted. Thank you for stopping by!

What a fun visit, and I'm so jealous of that wonderful garden. I think there must be some green thumbs, fingers and toes at your house!

Thank you so much for your gracious hospitality to us last weekend! I enjoyed our time with you and it was nice to see where you live so I can picture you all there. :-)
