I thought of you and the family today when we walked around the Wake Forest Farmers Market. It is small but locally grown food.
There was a lady selling birdhouses that she paints. The best one had a quilt painted on it.It looked like it belonged in the Girotti collection.

I LOVE pickled beets!!! They look great! My Dad does this also & his are so delicious! He also makes the best pickled summer squash! I can eat an entire pint jar at one sitting...hard to stop once I start. :) Enjoy!

Hannah,
They look beautiful! Our family has never tried pickled beets. I took a vote and somebody with red hair who cans, too, wrinkled up her nose.....
You'll have to let us try them...um, maybe. :)

Those look so nice. I love beets but if I want my children to behave the quickest way to do that is to threaten them with a bowl of beets. :)

Those are beautiful! Isn't it satisfying to see the end result of bottling? Beets are especially lovely. We haven't had enough to pickle from our own garden, but hope to some day. We are taking a few bottles of garden produce (Mum & Dad's plums that I bottled, plus our pickled zucchini) over as gifts for friends in South Africa.
