Today I'm again joining MsGreen Thumb Jean for Bloomin' Tuesday! There are some new blooms in the gardens this morning. Let's go on a walk so I can show them to you...
The red tiger lilies are blooming by Tom's tool shed:
And the orange tiger lilies are blooming down by the lower garden gate. The Russian sage behind the lilies to the right should be in full color soon.
The heliopsis also just started showing its colors this week. That's spiderwort directly behind the heliopsis and the last of the pansies in the windowbox.
The red yarrow below is a dainty purplish-colored flower. When I purchased it at a plant yard sale, I expected it to be a true red by the name and was surprised by this delightful purple.
Speedwell sends up its purplish shoots:
And the lavender is almost overtaking the sidewalk. I love to walk by there and smell the sweet aroma.
Here's the first of the coneflowers for the season blooming up against the taller yellow yarrow. I'll show more coneflowers a little later in the month as they continue to bloom:
That's all for this morning. You can check out more blooms over at MsGreen Thumb Jean's place.

Your lavender is incredible! Do you have any hints for growing it? Every year I try to grow it. It's my $3/year joke. I've tried different areas, soils, etc. with no success. Maybe it's the mountains that I'm missing:-) Thanks for the beautiful pictures. This is our second week with temps near 100. All my leftover energy is used hauling hoses...and I don't have any flowers that are blooming yet!

That lavender is amazing.... try taking a few flowers, maybe six or eight, and dropping them into your next cup of tea. OOr toss in a couple of sprigs next time you're making sweet tea.
as to where it can grow, I've seen it growing in nearly every area and climate.... it does find in the Pacific northwest with cold winters and dreary long wet spring/summer, I've seen it growing in hot hundred degree Central California valleys, and a number of places in between. Maybe try and find seed chosen to do well in your specific "zone".... doesn't seem to be too fussy about soil, either, though it does seem to like decently drained soil.
