"I have heard of a land on the far away strand,
’Tis a beautiful home of the soul;
Built by Jesus on high, where we never shall die,
’Tis a land where we never grow old."
Do you know that old song? At various times I think about growing old.
...like yesterday when I saw that young picture of what I looked like at 28!! And I realize those days are long gone.
...like last week when I asked my cousin if she had anything planned for her birthday on Valentine's Day, and she replied that she "didn't have birthdays anymore."
...like today when I'm mailing a birthday card to my friend in a retirement home. She's amazing, very alert, and turns 93 tomorrow!! And I'm wondering if I'll be anything like that...at 73!
...like all the times when those aches and pains come and limit your ability to do all the things you used to do!
Yep, been thinking about getting older...but I definitely prefer that to the alternative!

Hey, Maybe Micah might want to rethink his interest in pediatrics.

Hi Old Woman! :) Just kidding!!! Yes I too think about that very subject more often these days. We were privaledged to have 9 "Older" women in our home on Valentines Day that would definitely be considered "old".... they were all over 70 and many were over 80 and one was over 90!!! BUT what grace and youthfulness they displayed as they spoke of their lives now and how much they have learned. What sweet reflections of Jesus they were as they blessed us with their wisdom, laughter, love and interesting stories of days gone by. If I can be half the graceful "Old woman " that they are I will be thankful to the Father for how HE has worked in my life!! "Teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom" Psalm 90:12 "The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, and not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love thier children, to be descreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed." Titus 2:3-5

Amy, thanks for commenting...yes, I can think of some medical specialities that Micah could definitely get some business from me if he decided to go any of those routes besides pediatrics! :)
Chris, neat to hear about your Valentine's Widows' Tea. I sure hope I can be one of those wise aged women Titus speaks of!
