This morning started out with us all bustling to get ready to leave for the Maple Festival (as I posted earlier today). What we didn't know was that we'd take a 3-hour unexpected detour to the Emergency Room first with Tom getting checked out for chest pains. Thankfully, the cardiogram didn't find anything abnormal, and he was released with advice to see our family doctor and be evaluated for stress tests.
Talk about praying! We all did during the whole ordeal. We definitely aren't people who frequent doctors or the Emergency Room often. And we are so very thankful that the Lord brought Tom through this situation and home to us.
We did end up traveling over the mountain to Monterey after lunch, but our time was limited. I found two birthday presents in a neat garden shop, but my favorite birdhouse vendors weren't there this year. We also visited one of the sugar camps and saw maple syrup being made.
And...we actually saw two lambs being born!! We pulled alongside the edge of the road--mainly for me to take pictures of a field of sheep out the van window. As we're watching, we saw a mama ewe "drop a lamb." We were all watching in amazement. Did we see what we thought we just saw? Then she started licking the baby clean, and the jet black wee little lamb started wobbling and trying to stand. While that was going on, she did it again! Two little lambs just born! A miracle!
I do have pictures of the sheep--but from a distance because I didn't have the zoom with me. Pictures are posted in a new photo album (left-hand column down below).
It's been a day!

Glad all is ok with Tom. I was praying too.
And you all do seem to have the adventures! Sounds like fun. I'm curious about the birthday presents. Were those presents for yourself? or for someone else who has a birthday coming up soon? hmm?

Hannah, I'm glad your Dad was alright. I'm sure that gave you all a scare! I also enjoyed seeing the pics. of your family outing ( I liked the skirt you were wearing too :) ). We like going to festivals too.

How did I miss seeing the pictures yesterday!?! Wow. You took some great shots. And thanks for the running commentary. Now I really wish I had been able to go along with you. Neat outing!!

Wow! What a day! I'm glad Tom is OK--and that you were able to go on your outing. The sheep pictures are incredible. We've had some interesting interaction with nature in our own backyard. A nearby forest has been cleared to accommodate a new Walmart, and the forest creatures have made their way to our backyard for refuge and food. Yesterday we had a mama deer and her two babies, and this morning we had a raccoon in the bird feeder! My camera was in the car, however, so I didn't get pictures! I'm going out to the local feed and seed to buy more food for our castaways. :)

Thanks everyone for your concerns and prayers. Pray the Lord gives the doctors wisdom in my followup appointments.
