Monday evening I had the experience of being examined on my physical examination skills for my Practice of Medicine (POM) class final. The trick was maneuvering around in 4 different small exam rooms with crutches and the need to keep my right leg fairly straight. For the final, there were 8 potential different exams to perform. Each of us would randomly be assigned 3, plus the Neurological Exam for a total of 4. I started out with the Neuro and did just fine. Next, I drew Cardiac and Blood Vessels. Third was Musculoskeletal-Lower Extremity, and last was Ear, Nose, Throat. The 4th year students acting as patients (they were getting paid for their time...sounds like a 4th year elective to me!) were very accommodating of my situation and did their best to make me comfortable and to deal with my disability. All in all, not too bad. Now, I just have to concentrate on studying for my 4 other finals in a few weeks!

Wow, Michah, way to go. You're still on the little prayer list next to my 'puter.
