Quick update on the flower gardening theme. Sarah helped me plant five large 5-gallon azaleas before lunch today; I've always bought the puny $1.88 variety in the past, so these were gorgeously huge and relatively cheap from Costco.
I love azaleas.
When we lived in Williamsburg for 9 years, we had a very steep bank in front of the house. I planted junipers and azaleas there. I still get notes from former neighbors raving over that bank of color every spring. There were over 100 fuchsia azaleas around the property. I miss them--but not the steep bank.
I haven't planted many azaleas here because of the deer and their love for them. I have only two up close to the front porch--until today--and now I have five more.
"One time I picked this flower, and I liked it so much I had to go and get some more."
