I received a package in the mail yesterday--the book "Created To Be His Help Meet" by Debi Pearl of No Greater Joy Ministries. Written on the back cover:
"Somewhere over the passing years and changing culture women have lost their way. This book is written to lead them back home. Regardless of how you began your marriage or how dark and lonely the path that has brought you to where you are now, I want you to know that it is possible today to have a good marriage so good and so fulfilling that it can only be explained as a miracle."
There have been rave reviews about this book, and Biblical Womanhood is offering it at their cost for a limited time. Just perusing through the chapters it seems to be quite thorough, and I'm eager to start reading it--when I finish the other two I'm trying to get done.
Has anyone read this book yet and would recommend it?
UPDATE: I just found out that this blog has a 9-Part (so far) review series on Created to be His Help Meet (each part is a different link on the sidebar--very thorough discussion).

SOunds like a good book! I went to the site you mentioned and found several other books I thought might be good. Do you know anything about the book entitled "Quest for the High Places"?

I've heard a lot about that book but never read it. Maybe I can borrow it when you are done? (: Everyone that I've heard of that has read it has recommended it.

Chris, I haven't heard anything about the book that you mentioned, but you're right, it does look interesting.
Sarah, you are certainly welcome to read it. The review that I read recommended the book for wives but not for unmarried girls. I'm sure that your mom could preview/read it first and make a decision.
Also, I updated the original post to include a link with several bloggers reviewing each chapter in the book.

Hello, Mrs. O'Dorisio...Here's a link to where you can read an excerpt from the Quest book.

I read the book, and it was fantastic. I can't think of anything in it, that I disagreed with. I loved the book so much, I wish I could afford to buy a case of them, so that I could freely give the book away. :-)

I read Created to be His Help Meet. It had a lot of practical information and I enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend using discretion if you're going to read it and you're not married yet. The "married women" only sections are not very long, but they are in the book. (I'm not married yet.) Overall, it challenged me to be more supportive of my own dad and to not make critical comments about him.

Maybe I better wait to read it then--thanks anyway. (:

A good friend of mine who is married and has a good marriage read it and highly recommended it (although not to me necessarily to me; I am single).
