One of our unique traditions around Mountain Musings is to wish the birthday person a "Happy-Day-After-Your-Birthday!" And everyone tries very hard to be the first to wish this to whomever is celebrating. I wonder if anyone else does this?
This day-after birthday wish started in our family many moons ago, and I have no idea what made it stick--just one of those crazy inside jokes every family has. Well, yesterday was officially my sister's birthday even though we celebrated last week. This morning she called to check in just before going into chapel, and I was able to continue the tradition. Yay! Quite understandably she said no one had told her that all morning...so she called me so she could hear it!
Do you have an unusual tradition in your family? How did it start, and why did it become a beloved tradition? We'd love to hear about it!

We have a tradition of singing out the birthday song randomly throughout a person's birthday...could be while in the car, at the table, coming down the stairs! I think I started that many years ago. I also try to tell the child who's birthday it is all about the day they were born. They have enjoyed remembering each year as I repeat the blessed event. :-)

I couldn't think of anything out of the ordinary for a tradition.Today is Allison's 15th birthday, she didn't want to pick out a birthday dinner but a birthday breakfast. We will be having pancakes soon.maybe we could start that as tradition-birthday pancakes!!

Dorothy, good idea to help your kids know you're constantly thinking of them on their special day.
Tammy, Happy Birthday to Allison today. Hope she enjoyed her special meal. I love pancakes, too!
