Here are the two cutesy little "mice" I mentioned last week--my first cross-stitch project after my friend Nancie taught me how 25 years ago. Thing is, now that I look at the picture, they're not mice at all! They're those dreaded rabbits that eat my flowers! All this time they had me fooled hiding under those quilts.
You can see how yellowed the material is. In fact, I took it out of the frame last week and soaked it for the longest time, but I'm not sure it will ever be like new again. (If anyone has any suggestions for cleaning, let me know.)
It surely looks like an antique treasure--and it is to me, because every time I look at it I think of being "just married" to my best friend.

How sweet, Deb! That's perfect for newlyweds! I don't have any idea how to make the fabric white again. If you don't see any white when it's in the frame, it probably looks like it was stitched on a cream colored fabric, and looks fine.

A lady in the framing section of Ben Franklin told me to hand wash them with Woolite...it's supposed to be for delicate hand washables.

I don't think Oxywash would hurt it if you dissolve it well and just soak it in cool oxy-water. I've used it on lots of delicates that nothing else worked on. If all else fails...
Pesky wabbits!

Thanks, y'all. I'll be trying some of these ideas. I had forgotten that vinegar was a cure-all. I'm trying that first before I buy anything.
