A regular commenter here recently suggested that we might enjoy the cookbook at left. We don't have this particular one, but I do own a similar cookbook called Aunt Bee's Delightful Desserts. There are many good home cooking type recipes in it, with several submitted by cast members of the Andy Griffith Show. There's one that Don Knotts submitted where he ended with, "Makes 10 - 4 servings. Don't worry about the calories, because it all goes to muscle." :)
Also sprinkled throughout are brief scenes from the Andy Griffith Show having to do with eating and food, pictures, and trivia such as, "What two main dishes is Aunt Bee most likely to make for Sunday dinner?" (Answer - Roast beef and fried chicken.) A lot of the recipes have names that go along with things in the show. It's fun just to read through the cookbook!
I bought mine at the Green Valley Book Fair for about $4. I know I've seen Aunt Bee's Mayberry Cookbook there before also - next time I might just have to get it.

I am a dessert girl! When we go out to eat, I check the dessert menu before I order so that I don't fill up on the regular food and am too full for the sweet stuff! :-) I would enjoy being your taster anytime.

Hey, we need that recipe that turns to muscle! LOL I'm going to have to see if either of those cookbooks are available around here. They look fun. And I knew the answer to what Aunt Bea would be fixing for Sunday dinner - it was the same at my house when I was growing up in SC! ;)

Have you ever been to Mayberry??? We did about 8 1/2 years ago.
We have 3 of the seasons on DVD's and they're a regular part of our Friday nights. :)

Thanks for the comments everyone!
Courtney, no, we've never been there. :(
I haven't seen the seasons out on DVD - I have "The Best of the Andy Griffith Show" DVD, but it just has 16 episodes. I've wondered if there was any way to get more...

Hi Deb
Thank you for dropping over to my blog and for your kind comments.
I have such a sweet, nostalgic feeling toward the Andy Griffith Show.I'm sure the cookbooks would have some great recipes. I've never seen them up here though.
But I have bought the DVDs from Wal-mart.We enjoy watching the old re-runs.
It's so nice to "meet" you.I'll be back. :)

Yay for Andy Griffith! The best (non-math) television show ever produced :). I used to be ridiculously well-versed in Andy Griffith trivia, but I'm a bit rusty now. That television show has a lesson and quote for every situation. We have all the available seasons on DVD.

Courtney, I looked them up on Wal-Mart.com and sure enough, there they were! I've never seen them there before.
Thanks for coming over to our family's blog, IslandSparrow!
Susan, it IS a wonderful show, isn't it?! My brother Jonathan and I like to quote Barney's lines alot. ;)Maybe someday we'll get the DVDs, too.
