Here are some pictures of one of the fun evenings we had last week when my sister visited. After our cookout on Friday, Tom grabbed his guitar and some hymnbooks, and we sat out on the front porch watching the sunset as we sang some of our favorites. Thankfully, the temps were cooler, and the haze had cleared over the mountains. It was a wonderful evening!
Micah and Elizabeth came over and joined us. Even Barney was quiet when we sang Sweet Hour of Prayer and Were You There? The evening ended much too soon, but we picked out favorites and sang until it was too dark to read the words in the hymnal.
We love simple family times together. What is your favorite family time that doesn't cost a cent?

Aw Deb, what a wonderful evening. I wish I could have been there. I miss worshipping with friends.

It all sounds wonderfully atmospheric! I remember one praise time I enjoyed on the Bewsher's porch in Texas. That was in the morning though. I think it is a wonderful way to spend time togther, enjoying nature and the Lord and giving God joy through praising him!

You are describing my absolute favourite kind of evening!!! When my kids wanted to give me a Mother's Day supper I opted for a campfire on the beach and a singsong. Forget the fancy food and give me family, friends and music!!

Oh my gosh, how breathtaking the scenery is there. As far as I'm concerned the simple times ARE the best times. I don't need fancy, I need me and my sweetie swinging in our swing in our back yard. It is such a time of closeness and words aren't even needed. MY hubby and I also love to play board games with our older children. It's all free!!

What a sweet moment . . . the stuff the best memories are made of.
I will never forget the moments that I have spent singing with others-whether it was with cousins on our grandmother's backporch or "twinkle, twinkle little star" in lots of languages with international students while staring at a bunch of twinklie stars.
Thanks of sharing the pictures with us too!!

Well, it sounds like everyone who commented would enjoy a front porch hymn sing! Why don't you all load up and head this way!? :)
