Today is National Quilting Day - a day set aside to reflect on the traditions of quiltmaking and the contributions quiltmakers have made to their families and communities for many generations. How will you celebrate?
If you are in an area that received some fresh snow yesterday like we did here in Virginia (almost 4 inches!), then maybe you're sleeping in on this cold, snowy Saturday morning and keeping warm under a colorful quilt. Sure, that's celebrating, too! This is what I'll be doing today:
- finish sewing the binding on another McKenna Ryan art quilt wall hanging I've been working on. No, I haven't posted any pictures of my progress, but here are some of the beautiful batiks I've been working with for this project.
- retrieve some of my old quilting books from hiding places and display them
- organize my quilting trunk
- make a definite plan to finish the neglected quilt I started when I was expecting Jonathan 22 years ago (I keep talking about this, but my goal is to finish it this year. I think the binding strips will be found in my unorganized trunk!)
- set the table with the quilted placemats today
- highlight Amy's blog Happy Things. Amy is an avid quilter and has posted a picture of the colorful scrappy quilt she recently finished for Project Linus; also here's the link to her quilt index. I sure enjoyed browsing and getting some ideas.
- wear something green
What's your plan for today?
~Deb
Happy Quilting Day, Deb! It sounds like you have a wonderful and productive day planned! We didn't get any snow here, just a lot of rain. Mr. P and I are going to Richmond to "goof" off, go to a movie and out to eat:)

National Quilting Day?! Wow!
Anna and I celebrated her friend's 10th birthday at Mrs. Hardesty's Tea Room in Harrisonburg. It was quite fun.
If our fellas end up going to NC later on, maybe we girls can go for tea that weekend!
Jeff changed the oil in the vehicles and is doing taxes...icky. Ben is working on his magazine "The Beacon."
I have often thought about our breakfast last weekend...
Enjoy your day!

We didn't get any snow :( We only got a few, very few flurries. I did spend Saturday looking at material. I went to Schoolhouse Fabrics in Floyd. Three floors of fabrics!
