"Read the Bible, and it brings you into the association of the best people that ever lived. You stand beside Moses and learn of his meekness; beside Job and learn his patience; beside Abraham and learn of his faith; beside Daniel and learn of his courage to do right; beside Isaiah and learn his fiery indignation toward the evildoer; beside Paul and catch something of his enthusiasm; beside Christ, and you feel His love." ~Charles H. Spurgeon
Here's a link to help you in your quest to read the Bible each day. Many thanks to Kathie at Kathie's Kabin for posting about this.
If you check out the Bible Reading Plan, you'll see how you can select your favorite way to read: Chronological, Historical, New Testament first and then Old Testament, or a little of the Old and a little of the New each day. You can also select your favorite version.
This is what I did. I selected King James and Chronological because it helps me see exactly what event happened before another. And this site already has it all figured out for you! Then I placed that particular link in my favorites. You can see what it looks like here. As I read each day, the site will strike a line through that day's reading. How very convenient.
Hannah also set hers up as New American Standard and some Old and some New each day. Sarah says she'd rather read from her own Bible. But...I like the idea of click click, and I'm at the passage for the day. Maybe you would like to try it too. Let us know if you decide to test it out and how you like it.

Thanks for the encouragement to read through God's Word this new year! I chose the NKJV and chronological. I printed up the schedule, but will use both the internet site and my Bible to vary it a little. I am going to suggest that each family member check your blog today and decide which way they would like to read the Bible through this year. Thank you very much for the links! Happy New Year to your family from ours!

I think I will try reading it in the chronological order in ESV.It is easier to go to the site and read since I don't own a Bible written in chronological order.
Thanks for the link!!

I already have my reading plan in place, but this is a great tool! I didn't get anywhere near all the way through my Bible in 2007, so I'm trying again this year.

Hi!
I am reading the bible this year as well. I'm not sure I'll do the whole thing, but at least half! :) I've been lurking on your blog this year and just wanted to thank you for all the wisdom you've shared. I've learned so much from you.
Warmly,
Alex

Thank you for passing the word, Deb. I like the clear way you presented this challenge. Missed you over the Christmas season, but it was nice knowing you were enjoying family.

Deb, thanks for the website information. I've bookmarked it. I'm like Sarah and I like to read thru with Bible in hand. I guess because I'm an underliner and note marker. This year I'm using one of our hymnbooks for devotions also. Everyday I read thru a hymn, play it thru on the piano, and try to search for a Scripture that suits the words and meaning of the hymn. This has been a sweet experience. I'm hoping to go from front to back. On each hymn I note the Scripture and in my Bible I mark the hymn number. Maybe someday my grandchildren will enjoy reading them too.
Thanks again. Jane
