Today Hannah, Sarah, and I traveled to Harrisonburg for a special treat--lunch at Mrs. Hardesty's Tea Room.
The decor was definitely a tea-lover's dream! Tiny little teacups were hanging from the lace curtains, little salt and pepper teapots were on our table, along with fresh flowers, and there were a variety of beautiful teacups on every table.
Hannah and Sarah are looking over the selection of teas on the menu. You can see the curio cabinet to Sarah's right which displayed teapots and teacups. Our lunch was delicious. Hannah and I tried the mango mist iced tea with our meal, and all three of us split a cinnamon scone with raspberry jam for dessert. Yummy.
The picture above shows the checkout counter with hanging teacups on a wrought-iron rack (far left), a beautiful teacup wall quilt (center), and a stenciled "One lump or two?" on the wall (top).
After our lunch we strolled around the patio area where many beautiful flowers were in bloom. It was a delightful excursion.
Next on today's agenda: Shenandoah Valley Quilters Guild Quilt Show where we viewed many intricate and beautiful quilts--over 250 were displayed!
Here's a big scrap quilt using hundreds of small scraps. Even though this pattern had no rhyme or reason, I liked this one because maybe I could do one like it!
The quilt on the right was sewn and entered in the show by a man--I really didn't know that men liked to quilt! It's called Mariner's Doom, is quite intricate, and was entered in the Art Quilts category.
We had a wonderful Saturday outing! Thanks for touring along with us!

OHHH, AWWHHH....What a special treat!! The place looks just darling and it sounds like the tea and food were delicious!! How far away is Harrisonburg from you all? Can we go for a lunch date sometime?? :) We will have to call Dorothy too!! The quilts are amazing. Laura, Erin and I are getting ready to do a beginners quilt "class" with my mom for several weeks. She is going to have us come once a week to her house and the girls will make a small lap quilt. We looked at fabric the other day, oh so beautiful, colors and designs. Just makes you want to eat them up they are so delicious!! :) Anyway, loved the photos, thanks for including all of us in your special day!

That looks like so much fun! I would have loved to do something like that.
When I looked at these pictures, I saw something familiar from our home. Actually, it was what I didn't see... Mom. :)
I take most of the pictures and I have to assure people, as they go through albums, that I truly am a part of this family. Honest.

There's nothing like a cup of tea in a china cup to brighten any day! Sounds like a wonderful way to spend Saturday!

That kind of Saturday is my cup of tea! :) Looks like you all had a wonderful afternoon! I love seeing the quilts. My Sarah is waiting for her quilting book (thanks to being inspired by your Sarah) and will start her first quilt soon! I'm with Chris...this is something we will HAVE to do together one day.
