What was accomplished today? The walls are up, and the roof is on! Time ran out, and the workers didn't quite get the black felt and shingles on before quitting time...maybe tomorrow. We are all excited with the progress!
We called Granny tonight and told her that her room was now under cover! She couldn't believe it!
This photo is taken from Sarah's back window of her bedroom, which will eventually be turned into a door that leads to Granny's room. More photos as work progresses.

Amazing progress. Your contractors certainly don't waste any time.

How many rooms are there going to be? What will the bottom brick area with the door be? I LOVE the fact that you blessed your Mom with all those wonderful windows so she can enjoy the view!

Vicky, we have worked with them many times before, and since they have to travel 2+ hrs to get here...it's to their advantage to finish so they can go home instead of spending the night in a motel!
Dorothy,
It's just the one bedroom and the bath.
When you look into the room from Sarah's window, the whole right side is one long bedroom. We were limited to the width by the house structure already, so we made it longer so my mom could enjoy a small sitting area on the other side of her bed. When you look to the left, you'll see accommodations for a handicapped tub/shower, potty, and the basin area. Beyond that is the closet.
And the bottom brick area is just under the house storage. Because of the lay of the land (so steep!) it had to be that much brick and that high!

Hi Deb!!
We really enjoy 'peeking in' on our new VA friends via your blog. What a lovely, encouraging place it is. :-) Very happy to see Granny's room coming along so well, and to hear that she had an offer on her house. I'm praying for God's richest blessings on you all.

It looks just great! Coming along so quickly...well, maybe more quickly to us who don't see it everyday. I know your mom is going to just love it!

Oops, I'm dreadfully behind in blog reading, and wasn't aware that your mom is coming to live with you, also hadn't read about the new room. How wonderful for her!
My husband's father lived with us for nearly nine years, he moved in one year after we were married. It was an adjustment but we all did just fine. Blessings to you :)

Deb! I haven't been blog reading either is quite awhile...I'm so glad to hear that your Mom's house is selling! I think that you shared that she was putting it on the market, the last time I came for a visit. What a blessing for her and for you!
