Second Saturday of the month always means a trip to my favorite shop for our Block of the Month class. Thankfully, the driveway out of here was passable.
Before leaving home, Sarah and I gathered our completed blocks to prove we'd done our homework and to be eligible to pick up free fabric for next month's block.
Class is always so interesting and fun because it includes some Show & Tell quilts for inspiration, plus the main instruction for next month's block.
Ooh, I love to walk into Patchwork Plus and see all the fabric displayed. Today was no exception. All RED fabric was 20% off, and all Valentine fabric was 30% off.
Of course, some had to come home with me! I picked out two pieces that I can use with one of my jelly rolls.
Ooh, I could have gotten so much more beautiful fabric at these sale prices, but Sarah had to remind me of last Sunday's sermon by John MacArthur about developing self-discipline...we're supposed to say "no" and to practice self-denial. Hmm...that sermon didn't apply to fabric, did it? She emphatically said, "Yes, it did."
So these are the only two I purchased. Maybe next trip I can only purchase two more. :) No, seriously, my goal for this year is "no new fabric" unless I need it to complete an unfinished project. That's a good goal, don't you think? I'm working on it.
Next...on to my second and third favorite shops before returning home...Costco to stock up (for the next snow predicted for Monday, 2 - 5") and Subway to fill up.Now we're home and cleaning and cooking for church tomorrow. With all the bad weather, we've been snowbound for three Sundays! It will be good to see everyone again.
Hope the rest of your weekend is a good one and Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Glad you were finally able to get out. We actually got around three inches here. Of course with living in the deep South it just about all melted by noon. We enjoyed it while we had it. :)
I know what you mean about practicing self denial. It can be hard when it seems like your getting a good deal. For me, it is stocking up on great sales at the grocery and then finding that stuff months later sitting in the pantry unused. I'm trying to get better about that and be a good steward.
Thanks for the needed reminder.
Hope your next snowfall isn't too bad.

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading about your winter pursuits - so different from the busy, outdoors, lovely summer we are having right now in Tasmania! It is fun to hear about your patchwork projects and classes.

I was wondering if you ever finished the hungry caterpillar quilt? And if you would mind posting a picture of it? I just loved the fabric when you showed it and wondered what the finished product would look like. Thanks Jenn Bontrager
