For those of you who've arrived at Mountain Musings via Amy's Quilt Festival, welcome! For our regular readers, you've seen this quilt before when I posted it when my sister opened this surprise gift at Christmas.
This pattern was designed by Camille Roskelley of Thimble Blossoms and is called Piece of Cake. It truly was a very easy quilt to make and took just over a week to complete. I used a Tranquility layer cake by Moda.
My sister loves quilts, and I had an extra fun time with this one since she had no clue I was making it. The photo above was taken today at my sister's house in South Carolina where Hannah and I have been visiting this week.
We've had a wonderful time here and will head home to Virginia early Saturday morning. We'll post about some of our adventures next week.
Head over to Amy's Creative Side where more than 300 bloggers have posted their quilts! Thanks, Amy, for hosting the Festival!

Deb, did you take Mill back to Bettys house? I know you and the family are going to miss her so much. As fast as time is flying she will be back with you before long. Tell everyone hi and tell Mill I love her so much. You and
the family take care.

What a lovely quilt! I think even a novice like me could do that (provided I didn't have a toddler & infant distracting me). I'll definitely keep this in mind for a future project!
Oh, and safe travels back to Virginia!

Nice touch-photographing the rail fence variation out hanging on a fence-lucky sister.
Now I see why you liked my cheddar star and I also like your use of orange.

What a lovely quilt! I also have a stash of Tranquility. I love it! I'm sure your sister treasures this quilt.

The off center pieces similar to Rail Fence work great in that quilt! Turned into a lovely quilt!

I like this...a lot. I keep thinking I am going to make something like this to use my batiks in...that way they are still in big enough pieces to get the true beauty of the fabric.
See my entry HERE.

thanks for the comment on my blog--i can't figure out how to respond via email to comments, so...the pickle dish is a lot of work, but other than the oval piece, it's pretty straight forward--the fans are foundation pieced on a xeroxed pattern, so time consuming but very easy. have a great day

Hi Deb, thank you for your good wishes and prayers for my move. I will miss Derbyshire, but I am absolutely certain that this is God's direction and so have total peace.
I love this quilt pattern, I must take a look at it as I have a layer cake (although it's packed!) and I have promised an Olympic quilt for this summer.
Have a lovely week,
Blessings, Val
