Being in Florida two weeks ago was a fun adventure for us three girls! I've already posted a couple of pictures from the beach, but these next posts will show you some of our excursions that week. If you missed why I was there, you can read about it here.
Here's Hannah standing in front of the condo we enjoyed all week. I loved the palm trees (they were everywhere!), and all the landscaping we saw whenever we drove out exploring the area was beautiful (more about Florida flowers in tomorrow's Bloomin' Tuesday post).
Our first evening Hannah and I went out and loaded up on groceries for the week at a nearby Publix--a new store for us. We decided to eat in for most lunches, and ended up eating supper out about four times that week.
Eats: Here we are at a Mexican place...Cantina Dos Amigos. Our Mexican food was very good; Granny isn't too much of a spicy food lover, so she ordered fish (at a Mexican restaurant!) and loved it!
We also ate at a little place called goombay's. Here are Hannah and Granny getting ready to go inside:
And here I am with Granny deciding what to order. It always takes me a long time to decide!
Granny and Hannah opted for the Mahi-Mahi sandwich--one fried and one jerked, and I decided on the steak and chicken tacos. I think this was our best meal out...not a fancy place (we ate outside on colorful picnic tables) but great prices and great food! And a manager who took a special interest in us with our Southern accents. :)
Shopping...we spotted a mall off I-95 called The Avenue Viera in Melbourne as we were arriving near the Satellite Beach area.
Granny loves Belk's stores, so one afternoon we went there to shop. You can see her headed into the store, and below there I am with my purchase. Like everywhere in Florida, everything was beautifully landscaped, as you can see.
We were mostly looking for Florida souvenirs for the family, so Beall's was a good choice for mugs and some coconut candy for Sarah.
Another interesting upscale shop was Green Turtle Market in Indian Harbor Beach. Lots of specialty coffees, food choices, and the like. We came out with some stocking stuffers..ssshhh!
Another just-had-to-find item was a Christmas ornament for a special gift for a friend, and The Christmas Cottage & Gift Shoppe was just the shoppe for us! If you didn't find what you were looking for there, it just wasn't available anyplace! This was a great shop for gifts and another souvenir for Sarah.
The last shop I'll tell you about is Florida Boy. I was looking for a polo shirt for Tom with Florida written on it or some such. Nothing seemed appropriate until Hannah spotted Florida Boy, an embroidery shop, as we were riding down a busy street at rush hour.
We made a u-turn and headed back that direction. They had exactly the shirt we needed, and we watched as the guy (Florida Boy himself??) came up with a custom design of a palm tree, waves, and sun with Satellite Beach, Florida, written under it...better than I'd even hoped for! Perfect!
Here it is below almost finished. It is amazing what machines can do in a matter of minutes! It was a perfect souvenir of our time at the beach this week.
Well, can you tell that so far we've had a great time out and about? Come back tomorrow for some Florida flower photos and the rest of the week for more of our adventures--hey, we did rest some though! :)

Looks like you had a wonderful time!
A comment on the Mexican restaurant serving fish: most authentic Mexican restaurants will feature several fish dishes. Just think of how much coastline Mexico has! :) I went to a very authentic Mexican restaurant with my aunt and uncle, and saw someone's plate where they had been served an entire fish (including the head!)

From the looks of the photos and the sound of the commentary, you all sure had a nice time! The photo of the embroidery shop looked interesting. I bet that was fun to watch. Looking forward to tomorrows post!
