Sarah and I headed out this morning to Patchwork Plus, our local quilt shop, to attend a new session of the Saturday Sampler class. We both enjoyed taking last year's class together (The Queen and Her Court) and decided that we just couldn't miss being a part of this year's new quilt class.
We know we've arrived in Dayton when we see the windmill twirling in the wind at the Dayton Farmers' Market and spy a horse and buggy in the parking lot. I never tire of taking pictures of those buggies!
The first part of our class was a Show and Tell, and Sarah brought her quilt top of The Queen and Her Court to show how she completed the quilt blocks. Below is her version using her own design with the applique around the border:
Another lady brought in her completed long-arm quilted version but used the finishing kit which contained extra fabric for a center block design. There were oohs and aahs around the room:
Below is our quilt teacher, Barbara Cline, teaching the first class and showing a sample of what our block should look like when we finish it this next month. If you remember, we hosted a blog tour for Barbara's new book, Star Struck Quilts, last summer. We are in good hands with Barbara as our teacher leading the class!
Sarah and I are looking forward to going to class together once a month for another year of quilting. And if you're wondering where my quilt top from last session is...well, that story is part of the next post titled UFO Bust ~ 2011.

This was so neat seeing pictures of my sister Barbara doing what she loves to do! I'm going to call her and tell her I know what she did today and what she was wearing!
Thanks for posting. ~Polly~

Stunning quilting, how very clever Sarah is!
The countryside in the first photo looks like that a couple of hours inland from where we live. Do Amish people drive the horse and buggy?

I sure wish I lived closer to Dayton. I love Sarah's quilt. It is such a blessing that the two of you can share your love of quilting with each other.

That is wonderful! I love Sarah's quilt. They are so lovely to have around the home. I am sure you can be a witness for Christ as you do the class as well.
