Beginning this week I'm joining with Susan over at Blackberry Creek and other bloggers who are participating in her UFO Bust of 2011.
Our goal will be to have fun as we clear our shelves, boxes, drawers, and closets of unfinished projects. They can be unfinished quilts, sewing projects, cross-stitched pieces, knitting, crochet, art journals, or paintings.
Susan listed all of her UFOs on a post here (wow, look at all those projects!), and she's already posted her first Progress Report here. Way to go, Susan!
I'm listing my UFOs below...and really, this is embarrassing because all these projects should have been finished long ago! I'll post progress reports along the way, too...hopefully, it'll be so encouraging to me that I'll keep at it until they're all done!
- Charisma Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt
- Figgy Pudding Simple Squares Quilt Along
- Verna Pinwheel Quilt
- Pat Sloan's Orange Challenge Quilt
- The Queen & Her Court 2010 BOM Quilt
- Anniversary Waltz 2009 BOM Quilt
- Autumn Leaf Applique Wall Hanging
- Log Cabin Quilt (the oldest UFO, started when I was expecting Jonathan more than 25 years ago--cringe!)
- Siggy Block Swap Quilt '09
- Modern Siggy Swap 2 Quilt '10
- Irish Hiking Scarf
- Bread x-stitch
- House Sampler x-stitch
- Old Crock and Geranium x-stitch
- Finish writing in Jonathan & Sarah's "About Me" journals
Here's one example. This is a sampler that I started for Hannah back in 2006. My initials and the date are stitched at the bottom...not quite accurate since I didn't finish it!
And as referenced in the last post, The Queen & Her Court quilt is definitely on my UFO list--all 12 blocks are done, but the finishing kit adds a lot more work! I'll get to it soon.
Wow! Look at all these projects I have to finish! Can I do them this year? I'll post pictures and the story behind each UFO as I work on the projects as the weeks go by. So stay tuned!
I'm tackling #11 first. Sarah will be happy to finally get her scarf!

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has a UFO's laying around. My daughter found a stuffed cloth turkey I had started more than 20 years ago for a Thanksgiving decoration. She pulled it out and finished it. It might have been 20 more years before I ever got around to it. LOL.
Have fun finishing up your projects.

Yay for busting the UFOs. :D I have some myself that need finishing. Hmmmm.
The good thing about UFOs is that usually you have everything you need to finish, so you don't have to spend money on a new project, you have a lot of work already done so it doesn't take a lot of work to finish, and...ta da! You have a finished piece!

Oh my goodness - what a task you have before you! I probably have a list that long also - but I don't dare list it! Ahh - this is one challenge that I would fail miserably at! LOL!!
That sampler is nothing short of gorgeous - you must finish it - this is surely an heirloom waiting to be born! Just beautiful.
If you knock off all those things onyour list - I will send you a prize my friend!!
Hugs,
Vicki

At first I was thinking you had many UFOs due to your illness last year until I saw the dates on some of them. The quilt from 25 years ago can slide because somehow I can't imagine you working finishing a quilt with 3 young ones and not long after you expecting Sarah.
I have a couple cross stitch projects I need to finish.Christmas ornaments that may end up on Allison and Gregory's future trees.

At least I know I'm not alone in the UFO dept. Maybe I will be inspired by you and finish some of mine.

After seeing your list of UFOs, I don't feel so bad about all of mine! That sampler is beautiful - I look forward to seeing your progress on it and the others.

I'm just not brave enough yet to admit to all of these UFOs around here! I will enjoy watching your progress and I just may jump in and try to accomplish some also. Have fun and work fast remember it won't be long until the garden will be calling!
