Last fall, Granny was cleaning out her closet and brought out a stack of clothes to give to Goodwill. I swooped in, rescued 2 pairs of L.L. Bean Tencel jeans still in great condition, and was excited to try out a tutorial I had found.
Hannah has a L.L. Bean Riding Skirt, and I've always loved the feel of it. The jeans were made of the same material, and I figured I could make a pseudo riding skirt for free!
Well, last night it was finally finished, and I now have a new, extremely comfortable skirt to wear. Yay! I followed the tutorial, except instead of cutting the triangular panels out of a different fabric, I just cut them out of the pant legs of one of the pairs of jeans.
Ta da!
~Sarah
Very nicely done, Sarah! I have also seen people fill in the triangle areas with a print fabric for a more casual look.

Ooh, I am so glad to get my hands on this tutorial! :) I have owned several store-bought pairs of this kind of skirt and they were the COMFIEST! I don't know why, maybe it's the slight a-line silhouette created by the triangles?
Thanks!

Sarah, I like the fact that you kept the triangle panels the same color as the skirt. You did a great job!

Great skirt! Having two of the same pairs of jeans gives it a cleaner look, no diffeing of colors of denim. Great job

Very cute! A friend did something similar but (Shh! Don't tell!) yours turned out cuter! ;)

I really like your skirt, Sarah. I see you've gotten lots of different opinions in the comments...but I like having the whole skirt the same color.
I may have to make one of these for Ruthie. She really wants a jean skirt...but we cannot find one her size without a slit up the back.
Thanks for sharing!
