Spring is weeding, mulching, gardening season around here, and it's keeping me quite busy (instead of blogging!).
I love flowers...and there are quite a few flower beds to take care of! Why didn't I think of that when I planted all this stuff!
Sarah is my helper in the yard--she can jump on and off the tractor much easier than this old lady! And believe me, when there's work to do in the yard, I begin to feel like an old lady rather quickly.
We've been mulching every day this week and still have the beds around the two sheds to do. I'm thankful for all that's gotten accomplished so far while the temps are still mild instead of hot. Hopefully, the mulch pile will soon be gone!
Sarah also put the last brush stroke on the garden fence earlier this week. It took awhile to finish, but ooh, the beauty of a WHITE FENCE! I love it!
Actually, it's SO WHITE that compared to the older fence surrounding the property we readily see that it really needs sprucing up, too! Maybe this fall.
I've also been repotting all the house plants. It's a big job, and I'm almost finished--two huge snake plants to go...I need a guy home from work to help lift those outside for me.
While I've been working with flowers, Hannah has been planting veggies inside the main garden this week (pictures of that later). The frost date here in our area of Virginia is May 15th, so she's gotten a few days head start, and it's all looking good.
In the Kitchen: In the midst of all the busyness of seasonal yardwork, amazingly I've experimented with two new recipes in the kitchen this week--Crispy Chicken with Rosemary Lemon-Salt (good, but I didn't use all that salt the recipe called for) and Shanghai Sliders.
Actually, some people vetoed the Shanghai topping part of the recipe, so Sarah made Pioneer Woman's Onion Straws to go on top of the burgers. Delicious! Also, the Shanghai part of the hamburgers was vetoed! Sarah made up regular hamburgers like we always do.
So...scratch that...we didn't really have Shanghai Sliders after all, but the idea was a good one.
Well, that's what I've been up to....
Have a good weekend, friends--I'm headed to quilt class tomorrow! I've been missing sewing!

I love your fence! I think I'll show it to my husband and tell him that is what I want. Although today is not the day to do it as we had to make some purchases for our garden and I think a new fence is the last thing on his mind. :)
Being an engineer type person, he agreed that any money spent on the garden is a good thing since the last English cucumber we bought was $2.99...

I always love looking at photos of your garden. I esp. love your white picket fence, so charming. Makes me wish I liked getting my hands in the dirt (although I'd much rather get my hands in fabric) :o)
