Often on weekends I'll write a post and ask what's happening in your neck of the woods on Saturday. It's always interesting for me to read what others are doing all across the country on one given day.
Well, here's what happened in my woods: Tom asked me out on a date for lunch! Yes, I'll go!
Where to go though? Something simple, not fancy, something quick but good...did someone suggest Smoking Roosters?
As soon as we entered we could smell the smoke of the bbq fires a'burning. At least that's what we guessed, but we didn't see smoke outside like you would think an authentic bbq place would have.
There were only two tables. No wait, a third that was sort of a mini table for two by the door:
Just a few feet across from our table was a counter and some bar stools. Empty. We were there at noon and were the only customers, although I think they're probably busier on weekdays at lunchtime.
The only mishap occurred when the waiter set down my plate and spilled my pepsi all over the table and in my lap! After quickly cleaning up the mess, we prayed and started eating. Plum good! The minced pulled chicken was absolutely delicious but was messy enough to use a fork to eat the sandwich to prevent spills. Where's my bib when I need it?
Here's Tom after he paid for our food. All the cookin' went on somewhere behind those back doors.
So now you know what I did. What was your Saturday like?

Deb - That was one of the funniest posts ever! From the "Where's my bib...?" to the free food "maybe because I was wearing my Pepsi," you really made me laugh. Sounds like it was a fun date. Happy 32nd proposal anniversary!

Oh, I forgot to mention your hilarious run-down of the menu options!! So you don't like goat, tofu, or ox tail??? How un-American?!?!

Looks like fun! I had a GREAT Saturday. I went to Sew Modern in LA with my sister and also met a blogger friend, Candice, for the first time! Then, we all went to another craft/fabric store, and then went to lunch at an Irish pub. We came home and took my sister's kids to the pier to play at the penny arcade, and then out to dinner. It was a great day!

Well, I think I like your Saturday better than mine. Wes and one of the men from church went visiting together this morning while I stayed at the church and practiced piano. After we came home, I read a little, blogged a little, read some more, drowsed on the couch, practiced the guitar . . . just a slow, easy afternoon. Fixed supper and here we are!
My in-laws have been missionaries in Jamaica for 27 years, and I have heard of curry goat (Mom makes curry chicken though) and jerk seasoning, with which she makes jerk chicken. Jerk is so hot you can't use your lips to pull the meat from your fork, and don't lick your lips while you eat it! And don't eat fresh pineapple in large amounts after you eat jerk chicken! LOL Your pulled chicken sandwich looks delicious. I love pulled pork.

Glad you had a fun time.Pepsi spilling can be miserable but at least you laughed about it. I like shrimp but like you everything else but what you ate sounded strange.Allison would have loved the tofu.
Hope Sarah liked her mac and cheese.

I enjoyed your funny post! I always like eating at little out-of-the-way places. Sorry about the pepsi.
My hubby and I went to Elkridge (1-1/2 hrs north) to buy a Total Gym XLS so I can start getting back into shape. Afterwards we went to Chevy Fresh Mex where I ate the most delicious salsa and tamales.
Enjoy your snow!

Sounds like an "interesting" place. I have one in my house that would love to sample some of the more adventurous menu items. He once ordered shark at a California restaurant. YUK!
Our Saturday was spent cleaning, cooking and a bit of shopping.

How fun to try new places, not fun to have a drink spill on you :( Sorry about that! Your meal choice was what I too would have picked, given your options;)I do look the looks of the eatery!
Saturday, we spent the day at the shop hosting a Doggie Daycare party. 20 pups, lots of slobber and wagging tails...makes for a fun day for our kids! Blessed to have the business.
