This week I'm participating in MsGreen Thumb Jean's Bloomin' Tuesday. Instead of our flower gardens in Virginia, this post features flowers from the heart of Texas as a continuation of our Deep in the Heart of Texas series.
Everywhere we traveled we saw very beautiful flowers and healthy lush greenery, most blooms and names unknown to us, however.
First, the beautifully landscaped grounds at the Alamo in San Antonio:These colorful purple flowers were located by the Alamo stone columns and greeted us as we entered the grounds:This flowering yellow bush below reminded me of our Yellow Rose of Texas plant:Another beautiful purple plant:Below in the background you'll see one side of the Alamo...and in the foreground the cacti that are everywhere: Jonathan took this next unusual plant picture. It's always very interesting to see what catches someone else's eye when we get home and review everyone's photos!Leaving the Alamo, we toured other areas of the city. Here's a beautiful yellow flower:And this red one:A beautiful blue flower:This one's a different bloom:And last is a photo we took near our friends' front porch steps when we visited...a Bougainvillea:Thanks for coming along with me to see some of the flowers we saw in Texas. Next week we'll get back to the gardens in Virginia.
Other participants can be found over at Bloomin' Tuesday.

Hi Deb,
So many gorgeous blooms! Love all those purple flowers. It is nice to see what plants grow in other states. I'm visiting from Bloomin' Tuesday.

Beautiful flowers! I finally had a minute to catch up on reading your posts! The Texas waffle was so fun and would be a part of healthy eating if it was whole wheat, pure butter (in moderation) and pure maple syrup...right? ;) It looks like your trip was informative and fun. I want to get a couple of the books you mentioned.
