Last fall I wrote a post about the barn quilt the kids gave me which we ordered from Way Back When Barn Quilts (unfortunately, the link to this website is presently inactive).
I promised a picture, and here's the barn quilt installed on the garden shed with hostas, cone flowers, azaleas, and a butterfly bush planted around it:I absolutely love looking out my bedroom window at this quilt each morning when I awaken. The pattern is Summer Star Flower.
If you'd like to read about the history behind barn quilts, check out Barn Quilt Info (Edited to update with a correct link).
Also Suzi Parron's blog Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail is very interesting. She travels around the country photographing barn quilts wherever she spots them.
Here's another photo of the barn quilt looking through some tiger lilies in the garden:I love my barn quilt!

Deb,
Thanks for coming by. Love that barn quilt...very vivid. I don't have tigers lilies, but I really like them and would like to sometime.
And from your previous post, I love your disappearing nine patch table runner with Texas patterns. I wonder if Moda has other states? I should check that out.

Love your barn quilt!! And thanks for mentioning my blog. I have to point out, though, that the history of barn quilts on the site you mention is not correct.
Having spent three years researching this incredible phenomenon, I can tell you that barn quilts are a very recent addition to our landscape!
I don't mean to embarrass anyone; I just hate to see false information out there!
The correct information can be found at barnquiltinfo.com
All the best to you,
Suzi

Love it! I've seen a house here that has some 'quilts' around the porch. I've wondered where the idea came from. Jean

I Love your Barn Quilt too! Ooooooh I've been waiting to see it up and it is beautiful. What a wonderful way to start your days.
Your original post about your barn quilt gift triggered an interest in us and we're looking forward to meeting Suzi Parron when she comes to our town later this month. I'm hoping she'll autograph her book for me! I'd have missed all this if it wasn't for your sharing through your blog. Thank you Deb!

Deb-- I love your barn quilt-- it's just beautiful on your garden shed. After your post last year-- I bought one from that company and gave it to my husband for last Christmas. Shortly after that they closed their Internet business-- so I'm so glad I was able to get the quilt! We love ours too!!

Beautiful! I will have to follow your lead -- I just updated my garden shed with a little bit of landscaping, but I really love your landscaping! It looks like I will be doing more landscaping around my shed come spring!
