Hello on Friday, everyone! Have you all been keeping warm in this frigid weather?
Here's a scene showing our backyard around here this week...reminds me of being in Canada a few weeks ago! It was 1 degree this morning--cold for Virginia! Jonathan has been in Toronto on a work assignment, and it's bitterly cold there. We'll be glad to have him back home tomorrow!
Today was my first day out this week. Here's part of our steep driveway that I nervously traveled down this morning. Trees keep the snow from melting...and there's a steeper snow-covered hill further on that I needed to climb before I made it out to the main road--much prayer that I wouldn't have a problem. Thankfully, all was well, and I made it on my way! And where was I headed you ask?
Well, the story began last week when I received a phone call from a strange number, and a lady asked to speak to me.
Turns out that she reads the blog but has never commented. A true lurker! :)
Well...we chatted a bit, and she told me a few things about herself and mentioned some mutual acquaintances and then asked if I would be open to going out to lunch with her.
Sure!
And today was the day! She picked Panera Bread and traveled there to meet me from over the mountain. What an enjoyable time we had talking and fellowshipping together. The meal was delicious, and the time spent was very encouraging. Thank you, Anonymous Lurker, for a fun adventure!
(Remember when I met a lurker a few years ago?)
Well, it's late and a good night to hang by the fire and relax. Company's coming for dinner tomorrow, so it will be a busy day preparing. Have a good weekend, everyone!
~Deb
Deb, my eye caught sight of your beautiful Barn Quilt the minute I saw your first picture to this post! :) It is so pretty with all that snow around, looks like a post card. :) Sounds like you have been busy...as usual. How neat to meet a new "friend" from your blog. Your blogging adventure has given you so many other fun adventures!! :) BTW...did you happen to try the Winter Power salad (has quinoa, beets and lentiles in it)? I had that last weekend with the wild rice and chicken creamy soup..DELICIOUS!! Have a good day cooking and preparing for tomorrow.

Oh wow, Deb, your driveway looks pretty dangerous. I'm so glad you made it safely to have lunch with your lurker. That's pretty cool. Would you believe I've never eaten at Panera Bread. It's true. Goodman and I always go to steak or seafood restaurants. He's not a soup fan. I love soups. Ah well, someday I'm going to have to make a point to go there.
Love your barn quilt, too. Have a great weekend!

What fun! So glad you enjoyed your lunch date. I've met a few of my blog lurkers over the years too. It's nice when they finally say hello! Your snow scenery is beautiful - Sarah will be happy :) and your fire is so cosy! have a blessed Sunday Deb!

What exciting adventures! So glad it turned out well. We are all snowy and cold and icy here, but that is fairly normal. Your yard and drive look lovely in snow, though I'm sure you're anxious for a more normal look. I'll be glad not to have to bundle up quite so much….some day. Have a great weekend! Joyce

How exciting! And I know the snow is dangerous to travel in, but I still wish we had some. It looks beautiful. I do love where you live. In all the seasons
