FOR TODAY...Friday, August 22
Outside my window...sunny and low 80s this afternoon with clouds forming for scattered t-storms later in the evening.
One of the family's favorite things...Humpback Rocks is a favorite hiking place of ours for a fun excursion. The view is always terrific!

We always remember to take our jackets for the evening picnic, because even in August the air chills on the Parkway after the sun goes down. Here I am with Sarah making S'mores using her homemade marshmallows:
I am thankful...for safety on the roads...so much traveling this summer, and the Lord has answered our prayers and brought us back home safe and sound!
In the kitchen...as usual Fridays are Sarah's baking days...homemade marshmallows, blueberry pies and apple pies, cupcakes, linzer tart, lemon cheesecake, and cashew brittle all line the counters and table...waiting for labeling and packaging.
I am wearing...navy skirt, aqua tank, aquas and blues plaid blouse, silver sandals.
I am creating...absolutely nothing sewing-wise! The last time I sewed was in March! But I'm hoping to set up my machine after this weekend and re-start my Row-Along. That's good news, I'm sure, for my Row-Along partner!
I am going...to SC to pick up Granny in late-September. She'll be back in just another month!
I am hoping...Jonathan can get started building his house soon. The lot was being cleared today! (This picture doesn't show much, but we'll keep you updated as things start to happen.)
I am looking forward to...this weekend!! Tomorrow is our 34th anniversary, and Tom and I are spending the weekend in northern Virginia ~
Manassas. I'm especially looking forward to our Sound of Music
concert at Wolf Trap.
Happy Anniversary to us!
Around the Garden...uh,oh...Hannah was picking tons of tomatoes this week for canning and ran into this character eating a frog for his supper...and now I'm wondering how long it will take for the
Snake Be Gone to arrive from Amazon!

I know, I know...folks say garter snakes aren't poisonous. But I'm thinking a bite might make me pretty sick...so I've not been down to the garden since! I have an anniversary trip to enjoy!
~Deb
Happy Anniversary!!! I'm sure the concert will be wonderful. I am so excited about Jonathan's house, can't wait to see more pictures. I thought garter snakes were supposed to be cute. I can't figure out what part is the frog and what part is the snake. Thank goodness it had a frog in it's mouth so he probably wasn't very interested in Hannah. What a blessing!

Would you believe I played with garter snakes when I was a kid? The small town in which I grew up had a swamp... wait, I mean wetlands... behind it and we had snakes.
But the only dangerous snakes were in the water. You could not pay me to pick up one now!
I LOVE that photo of you and your Hubby!

Hi Deb!
I hope you had a wonderful anniversary. How was the show? Hubby and I watched a film about the real Von Trapp family just last night. One thing I like about your blog is there's always a lot going on - hope your son is able to get his house going soon. That is exciting. Don't feel bad about the sewing - I haven't done much myself, just made a skirt is all. It will be there when you're ready.
Have a great week!

Happy "belated" Anniversary, Deb. Sound of Music sounds like fun - hope you enjoyed your time away.
The snake in the garden would have scared me greatly! We've had a few in my flower beds this summer.
I, too, am looking forward to getting back to sewing - after our trip in Sept.
Hope you have a great week!

Oops, I really haven't been reading blogs for a while. I'm surprised with how much I'm still going backwards.
The hike looks like fun.
I've already seen the progress on Jonathon's house and am impressed.
Belated happy anniversary!
And the snake gave me the creeps. You'd have trouble getting me back to the garden.
