Since we last wrote about Granny's surgery on June 30th to repair the new compression fracture in her back at our local hospital, I've been spending the past days traveling to and from the University of Virginia Medical Center where she was rushed to ER last Wednesday evening with severe pain in her abdomen. The vertebroplasty on her back was a success as far as we can tell, but no one could figure out the continuing pain after her surgery until the UVA doctors ran more labs and CT scans. She was diagnosed with quite an unusual dysfunction...Sphincter of Oddi.
The GI doctors performed surgery on Friday and fixed the problem, and she was released yesterday afternoon.
After back surgery one week and abdominal surgery the next, you can imagine she's quite weak and will need lots of recuperation time. The home health nurses are on schedule for physical therapy in the coming days as well.
It's a good thing Hannah recently posted pictures of the garden...the pictures are all I've seen of the veggies that's growing out there! Maybe I'll get back to working in the dirt soon!
Thank you all for your concern and thoughtfulness for Granny through all of her health issues this year. We appreciate your prayers for her so much!

That circular driving area is rather representative of how fast the turnaround time is these days. Get them in, get them out! I hope Granny is finally able to manage the pain, and is getting plenty of rest. Love, Toots

Hope Granny recovers well. We are all praying for her and for you as you care for her. My aunt had that back procedure done at age 92. Over the holidays she sent us a picture of herself rushing down a big hill on a bob sled at age 94!! I hope your mom will recover as well:)

Oh Deb (and Granny),
I've been so busy with house and garden that I haven't been on line very much, but I stopped over today to see the progress on Jonathan and Bethany's house and see if they were married yet - to find trial. I'm so sorry for the rough go of it, Granny! I will add you all to our prayer board and look forward to posts about Granny's healing in upcoming days! If there's anything I can do for you Deb, please let me know!
