It's your Georgia guest poster here again! :) Hi everybody!
One project that I have been working on lately is finishing up the last step on a quilt - sewing on the binding. You may remember from a post last year that I won $100 worth of quilting services from Ruby Blue Quilting Studio. Well, it took me awhile, but I finally finished getting all the borders sewn on and the completed top sent off to Rebecca last fall.
Once I arrived in Georgia after my honeymoon, I received a package with the (almost) completed quilt. I was very pleased with Rebecca's work, I'd definitely recommend her! After getting unpacked and settled in, I have worked on trimming the quilt layers, sewing on the binding around the edge, and then hand sewing the binding to the back.
Here I am all set up in our family room, sewing away. Having an entire quilt on top of you like that keeps you nice and warm! :)
Finally, I put in the last stitch on Friday and spread the completed quilt on our guest room bed. It's so good to get that done!!! Now when my family and friends come to see me, they will have a warm quilt to sleep under. :)
I suppose now I should get back into working on my Double Wedding Ring quilt, eh? ;)

What a gorgeous quilt, Sarah! I especially love the colors you used, and how nice to have won the quilting service.
Nice to hear from you... from down there where it hardly ever snows, lol. Can you tell I'm wishin' for snow?
Have a great week!

Sarah, your quilt is beautiful! I love the colors. Do you piece by machine or by hand? Both my grandmothers and my mother all pieced and quilted by hand. My sister continues the tradition but I never got started on it. I was always too busy making clothes. I had a laptop quilting frame a few years ago to give away. Wish I had known to save it for you. It is very cold even in south Georgia today and going to be colder tonight. Brrr. The last time they had snow here was in 1989 and people can still tell you exactly what they were doing when it happened.

Very pretty! Can't wait to see the wedding ring quilt too. Wasn't that the one where some ink bled into the white fabric??

Oh YES!! I remember that 100 dollar prize and the quilt...sure looks great! Little did you even imagine that when you were working on that quilt it would be in YOUR guest bedroom...yours and Eric's!! :)
I am really looking forward to seeing a finished double wedding ring quilt photo!! ;)

Hi Sarah! The green and purple colors in your quilt are so pretty, they remind me of flowers in the Spring! Yes it's always so nice to be able to call a project truly finished... Crocheting is so much fun, like you and Ana mentioned up in the comments. It's my favorite hobby outside of maybe gardening. I've been trying to crochet a little beatrice potter bunny for a friend who is having a baby... I think I may be in a little over my head this time! :)
