I love good mail days! Don't you?
I love personal letters from friends and especially packages containing Moda fabric arriving in my mailbox. And, of course, I love quilts arriving in the mail.
And that's what happened this week! I hit the mail-day jackpot when Tom brought home a big box addressed to me from California. What the world?!
Here's the story:
Last March I entered a giveaway for a custom mini-quilt made especially for the winner over on Jen's blog, Quilter in the Closet. And I won! I know some of you won't find that too amazing since I've won various stuff occasionally! :)
But, anyway, I won! I could pick whatever type mini-quilt I'd like for Jen to make. I chose a rainbow flying geese.
This is the mini that arrived in the mail this week. Jen did an excellent job. I LOVE IT! (Photo credit: Jen, at Quilter in the Closet blog)Below you can see some of the quilting up close, and I can't wait to put it up on my new sewing room wall...one day: (Photo credit: Jen, at Quilter in the Closet blog)Jen and I emailed each other throughout the months as she was working on it; and as sometimes happens, life and family obligations sneaked in to hold up her finishing the mini until now. I completely understood as we've had a lot of things going on in our family this past year, too.
I told Jen it actually made a good story title...Nine Months to Birth a Mini. :) And she tells her side of the story over on this post.
However, Jen felt so very badly that she was late in getting the mini to me. So, she doubly made up for it!
She included a second quilt in her package...yes, she sent another quilt that was her beautiful Patriotic Chevron lap quilt that she entered in her local quilt show. Amazing that she would give it to me! I absolutely love it!
Here's the back of the quilt being held up by Hannah...just as beautiful as the front, and the quilting is outstanding: Thank you so much, Jen!
I love that she worked on these quilts all the way across the country in California...and now they reside in my country home here in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. I love both quilts and will always treasure them.
Head over to check out Jen's blog, Quilter in the Closet and see what other beautiful things she's sewing.

OH MY GOODNESS DEB!!! Yes the story does make for a catchy title and yes I am NOT surprised you won...yet again!!! LOL:) (Couldn't happen to a sweeter person!) The Rainbow flying geese is beautifully done and the quilting is amazing, what a treasure indeed!
Jen sounds like a very generous and thoughtful lady. Her work is beautiful and how exciting that she has helped you to prepare for your sewing room...now can she fly over to the east coast and help you get those cabinets painted and out of the house?! LOL :)

Reply: Ana, I don't have your correct email address or I would send a response directly to you. The one in your reply bounces back to me. Would you be willing to send yours to me so I can answer you personally.. [email protected]
I appreciate so much that you take time to leave me a message. Yes, the gifts were very unexpected and I appreciate so much her generosity. They are much more exquisite in real-life than on the computer screen. :) Many blessings to you. ~ Deb

Deb, those quilts are so beautiful and both fit in nicely with your décor. I'm not one bit surprised you won. :) I keep telling Sarah to enter contests on my behalf as she seems to be have mother's talent for winning!

Woohoo! That rainbow quilt is a beauty. I love it when people arrange different colors to flow into the next one. AND those tiny pieces! What a beautiful addition to your future sewing room... or cabinet storage room...or whatever works for you at the moment. :D

Those quilts are gorgeous.Almost funny that someone who makes their own quilts enters a contest to win a quilt.Contest like that are for somebody like me-I don't even own a sewing machine.
Look forward to seeing pictures of where they end up in your house.

Hi Deb! I may have erased my first note, so here's a second try...
Wow you did have a good mail day!! The quilting looks so intricate and delicate, they must be very special quilts. Since I only know a little bit about quilting (mostly from my sister's mother in law), I had to look up what moda fabric is. I thought maybe you made knit shirts out if it... But found out it is quilting fabric (oh duh!). :) The red white and blue colors are so pretty... They are always so classic and patriotic... I will have to check out your friend's website.

Deb, I am so glad you like both quilts. I hope you post a pic of your geese quilt hanging in your new sewing room when you get it set up.
