A first for me: tasting a Vietnamese dish called Pho noodle soup. It is a flavorful beef broth with Pho, a type of Asian rice noodle, cooked with onions, garlic, beef, and spices, to which one adds garnishes of Thai basil, sliced jalapeno peppers, crunchy bean shoots, and a squeeze of fresh lime. It was an interesting blend of flavors, and a cozy lunch on a rainy spring day.
Jonathan and I met for lunch on a weekday to try this new ethnic food, which he has enjoyed with coworkers. We hope to try some other interesting restaurants near his workplace on occasion.
Thanks, Jonathan, for inviting me to join you! I enjoyed the adventure. :) Anyone have a favorite Thai dish to suggest, or another favorite international food?
~Hannah
My favourite Asian dishes are - Thai Massaman Beef Curry and Korean Bibimbap. My favourite Vietnamese is a cheap and yummy Banh Mi for lunch but Pho is nice in winter. Because Australia is so close to Asia we cook and eat a lot of Asian food. A friend who move here from the south of the USA was surprised that in the supermarket the Mexican food section is small - but we have a whole aisle for Asian foods and specialised Asian supermarkets are everywhere.
I've been reading your blog for nearly 10 years. But I never/rarely comment but while I wait for my casserole to simmer - I took the time to work out how to log-in - I might comment a bit more now!

Isn't it delish Hannah? Authentic Thai food is always super fresh which I love. I'm not a fan of super hot curries but I like Thai green curries and Thai Beef Salad.

I love pho...haven't had it in years though.
Hoping that everything with baby and Sarah is going well. I pray for her!

Hi Caitlin,
It's great to "meet" you, and thanks so much for taking the time to make a comment and introduce yourself! It's nice to know there's another Australian reader. How interesting to hear about the culture there. I will have to try the dishes you mention - the beef curry sounds good!
I couldn't find a way to contact you personally via email as we usually like to do, so hopefully you'll see this reply.
Thanks for the comment, Rose...you are making me hungry right now. ;)
Thanks, Tammy, we really appreciate your prayers!

Hi Hannah! It looks like you had a fun, relaxing lunch together. I've never had thai food before, not much Asian food, but all the green looks healthy and delicious! Sometimes my younger brother and I like to cook our own version of a mexican pasta lunch together at home... It's usually just a mac n cheese with lots of spices and hot sauce lol! But it's so fun to make. :) I always enjoy reading all the comments on your family's blog. Prayers for you all, and Sarah and her husband, and for their little baby... God bless!

I forgot to tell you that I like eating sushi. When we lived in Ohio our Korean neighbor used to make it for us all of the time.Chris has made some good sushi over the years since then.
Of course I like eating the American version of Chinese food.

Hi Danielle,
The lunch you make with your brother sounds like it’s delicious AND fun. We surely do appreciate your prayers for Sarah and baby!
Hi Tammy C,
I've only tried sushi at a restaurant once, but I'm sure the homemade version would be tasty.
