For Today: Wednesday, September 14
Outside my window...We're in for another hot day with temps reaching 90 by afternoon--possibly the last hot day of summer with cooler and more pleasant temps arriving soon...I'm looking forward to getting outside and cleaning up the fall garden.
I am thinking...it's been a very long blog break for me--I hope you're still out there reading! Are you? I had originally thought I'd do a blog series titled September Snapshots and post a photo every day the month of September. Thankfully, I talked myself out of that before I started! Because...
I am learning...to be a round-the-clock caregiver for Granny. Unfortunately, last week she broke another bone in her lower back and has been in severe, excruciating pain. Tomorrow she has a bone scan, and surgery is tentatively scheduled for Friday afternoon to repair the compression fracture. Please pray for her!
Here's Granny enjoying a treat; I know she's looking forward to getting well and making baskets again, her favorite hobby: Here's a custom order of 4 baskets she was staining when the fracture happened down in the garden shed. But she finished the job, and they're all completed and ready for pick up:Have you had a good summer? Ours has been filled with gardening, travel, priming and painting more cabinets (yes, still!), and getting together with good friends. Here are two of my long-time friends who met up with me at Panera...Sue and Nancie, friends for 36 years:Another friend and I met recently for lunch at The Purple Foot to celebrate our birthdays. I failed to get a picture of the two of us together, but here's the beautiful painting Jean painted especially for me because she knew I loved watering cans! I didn't know she was an artist! I love it mostly because she painted it! Thank you, Jean!: Special travel...In August Tom and I traveled back to our old stomping grounds in Williamsburg, Jamestown, and Yorktown for our 36th wedding anniversary...fun memories!
I took lots of scenic pictures of our trip (none of us together on our anniversary!)...this one is the most representative of Jamestown. We went on a cruise aboard the Jamestown Discovery Boat Tour, viewing these three ships on Jamestown Island, something we'd never done when we lived there:We loved strolling along the river in Yorktown and enjoyed the little village of shops...newly rebuilt since we moved away 14 years ago:
I am creating...I recently purchased a cross-stitch pattern from the Stony Creek Collection, and I'm looking forward to getting started.

Sorry to hear about your mom.I just unpacked a few boxes where I found the 2 baskets we own of hers.
Lovely pictures of friends.Still neat that you are all still friends.Sadly I have learned the hard way that many who say they were/are my friends really are no longer. When we moved to Atlanta I put on in emails and facebook that if you are within one hour of us(Atlanta travel is hard)that I would love to meet up with anyone.Sadly no one ever took us up on that idea.So close to Marrietta Square,Lennon mall, and Kennesaw.
Amazing to see Andrew growing.Looks so cute in the picture you have.
Hopefully you will get to the fall garden work soon and start on your cross stitch.
Take care and will be praying for you mom to get relief from the surgery.

Hi Deb! Andrew is so adorable, I wish I could give him a squeeze. :) Sorry to hear Granny is having trouble with her back again. We'll keep her in our prayers along with Andrew.
How cool that you went to Williamsburg, etc. recently. We're planning to a trip up that way next month with one of our daughters. I can't wait.
Have a great weekend!

Hi, Deb! It is so good to have you back "blogging" again. I'm so sorry to hear of Granny's continued back problems and hope the surgery is successful. Back pain is not easy to deal with. After my recent eye surgeries, I'm looking forward to trying some counted cross stitch again. It's been a while. Hope the cooler weather comes soon so we can all enjoy being outdoors more. And thanks for another great picture of Andrew.

DEAR DEB: ULTIMAMENTE HE LEIDO SU BLOG DESDE SUS COMIENZOS Y ME GUSTA MUCHO LOS COMENTARIOS QUE USTED HA PUBLICADO A LO LARGO DE TODOS ESTOS AÑOS,EL 29 DE MAYO DEL 2005, SOBRE LAS REUNIONES QUE HACIAN JUNTO A OTROS HERMANOS DE LA FE EN DISTINTAS CASAS, JUNTANDOSE PARA ADORAR, LEER LA PALABRA, CANTAR HIMNOS DE ADORACION Y GRATITUD AL SEÑOR. MI PREGUNTA ES ¿ SIGUEN REUNIENDOSE DE ESTA MANERA O VAN A UNA IGLESIA? NOSOTROS TAMBIEN TENEMOS CULTO EN NUESTRA CASA CADA TANTO, NO TODOS LOS DIAS, PERO TAMBIEN NOS CONGREGAMOS EN UNA IGLESIA CRISTIANA, TAMBIEN LEI SOBRE SU HIJO MIQUEAS ¿EL ES MEDICO? ME INSPIRAN SUS COMENTARIOS SOBRE LA EDUCACION DE LOS HIJOS, LA PREPARACION PARA EL MATRIMONIO, LA OBEDIENCIA A DIOS, LA MUJER VIRTUOSA, LAS RELACIONES CON LA FAMILIA, EL AMOR ENTRE HERMANOS ECT. HE LEIDO RECIENTEMENTE QUE SU PEQUEÑO NIETO YA ESTA EN SU HOGAR JUNTO A SU MAMA Y PAPA, QUE FIDELIDAD DE NUESTRO DIOS, EL HA ESCUCHADO TODAS LAS ORACIONES DE LOS SANTOS Y HA CONTESTADO, ALABADO SEA SU SANTO NOMBRE JEHOVA DIOS DE LOS EJERCITOS.ESPERO QUE SU MADRE ESTE MEJORANDO DE SUS PROBLEMAS, SEGUIMOS ORANDO POR ELLA. ESPERO QUE PRONTO ME PUEDA CONTESTAR, NO FUNCIONA MI GMAIL, ASI QUE PUEDE HACERLO DESDE ESTE SITIO SI LO DESEA. ME DESPIDO DE USTED CON UN VERSICULO BIBLICO: 1 DE REYES, CAPITULO 8, VERSICULO 29. QUE LOS OJOS DE DIOS SIEMPRE ESTEN SOBRE TODOS USTEDES. BENDICIONES DESDE BUENOS AIRES.
Translation: DEAR DEB:
LATELY I HAVE READ YOUR BLOG FROM ITS BEGINNINGS, AND I LIKE MUCH THE COMMENTS THAT YOU HAVE POSTED ALONG ALL THESE YEARS. ON 29 MAY 2005, ON MEETINGS made ALONGSIDE OTHER BROTHERS OF FAITH IN DIFFERENT HOUSES, reuniting TO WORSHIP, read the Word, and singing hymns of praise and gratitude to the Lord. MY QUESTION IS, DO YOU THUS continue to meet, OR GO TO A CHURCH? We also have WORSHIP IN OUR HOUSE every so often, not every day, but we gather in a Christian church. I READ ALSO ON YOUR SON MICAH, HE IS THE DOCTOR? YOUR COMMENTS INSPIRE ME ON EDUCATION OF CHILDREN, preparation for marriage, obedience to God, VIRTUOUS WOMEN, FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS, LOVE BETWEEN BRETHREN ETC. RECENTLY I HAVE READ YOUR LITTLE GRANDSON IS NOW IN HIS HOME WITH HIS MAMA AND PAPA, AND THAT FAITHFULNESS OF OUR GOD HEARD ALL PRAYERS OF THE ARMY OF SAINTS and answered, PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME OF GOD JEHOVAH. I HOPE YOUR MOTHER IS IMPROVING FROM HER PROBLEMS, THIS WE ARE PRAYING FOR. SOON I HOPE YOU CAN ANSWER, not my GMAIL, SO CAN DO IT FROM THIS SITE IF DESIRED. I leave you with a Bible verse: 1 Kings 8:29. THAT GOD'S EYES ARE ALWAYS ON ALL OF YOU. BLESSINGS FROM BUENOS AIRES.

Hey Deb,
So wonderful to catch up on your family. Andrew is precious! What a GRAND blessing. We are so thankful God is answering our prayers.
Also, thank you so much for sharing the pics of the ARK Encounter with us. We were hoping to go this summer but with Allen breaking his leg on July 4, it has been impossible. Because his tibia plateau was crushed it is taking a long time to heal. He is only next week starting therapy outside the house. At least he has graduated from wheelchair to crutches.
So thankful your mom is doing better. We've been praying for her as well. I absolutely love your blog. Mama would have enjoyed reading it so much. She'd have probably gotten a computer just to read your blog!!
Love you, Deb.

Hi Deb, Seems I've missed an awful lot over the past few months. First, congratulations on little Andrew. He was so small when born. Glad to see he's doing much better. I trust the new mom and dad are doing well also. I do hope everything is going well with "Granny" and look forward to seeing an update whenever possible. Keeping you and the family in prayer. Be Blessed!!! -Steve
