Good Monday morning, everybody!! I hope you had a good weekend...are you ready to start the second week of bingo? Here we go!
I have two manger scenes in our house - one is on our coffee table and was my grandpa's. It's very much like the one I grew up with, so it's like a little bit of home. :) The second manger scene is a new one given as a wedding gift from friends, and we display it on the dining room table.
What manger scenes do you have?
~Sarah
I have one that was my parents when they were married in 1945.It was handmade from italy.

Cute manger scenes! My mother-in-law gave me her old one that they used to use every year and it looks a lot like the one my mom uses! So it feels homey :)

After I gave my daughter the one that I had bought in 1958, I bought a new one several years ago. We have it on the table in our foyer with a light in the manger. My daughter's children really enjoy arranging the old one. One of my daughters-in-law insists that the baby Jesus should not go in the manger until Christmas Eve.

We also have two. One is from Fisher Price. We have it on a low table for the kids to play with. If you press the button on top of the stable it lights up and plays Away in a Manger. While this has always been a favorite feature, our newly adopted 8-year-old can't resist playing it EVERY time he passes by. One day someone put the batteries in backwards so we had a sanity reprieve "away FROM the manger." :P

Alas! I don’t have a manger scene, but I’ll tell you where I like to see them: on people’s front lawns, lit up at night. There are two just down the street from the new Reformed Baptist Church that I am attending in Longview, and I love to drive past them and look . . .
The most riveting display that I have ever seen, however, was this: Three simple pieces, lit up with a flood light from the front. The front piece: a wooden manger, with straw only. Behind it, a cross, empty. Behind it, a crown on top of a post.
“Thou didst leave Thy throne and Thy Heavenly crown when Thou camest to earth for me . . .”
